Lead kedge, Dair, was annoyed with his alpha, Kylor. The alpha master dyad was arrogant and refused to listen to Dair, humiliating him in front of the whole clan. Well, Dair did what he wanted, and ended up in a predicament he never saw coming.
He also never expected to run into one of his mates. A tiny were spirit, Kymone was everything Dair wanted in a mate, and with the added bonus of finally bringing out the strength in Dair’s own weak were spirit.
But things didn’t go as planned, and Kymone was taken away by Kylor himself before Dair could claim his mate. Alone and hurting, Dair’s anger grew until he couldn’t take it anymore and he left the clan. Risking his life at every turn to relieve the guilt, anguish and depression that overtook him, he lost the will to live.
Between his past and his present, his future looked bleak, until Kylor called him home to save the mate that was destined for him by the fates.
Dair Risk Vampire Wars Book 2 edition by CR Guiliano Literature Fiction eBooks
I am not quite sure how to describe this book. The story is too short, therefore it feels sometimes as if the story is bouncing and leaping - it skips periods of time and thus avoids necessary explanations. And I am not entirely sure it would help to read the first book either. This is one of the imaginative worlds, where there are lots of vampires and weres. And weres can shift to any animals, not only a specific one. And then there are creatures of legends - the dyads. They contain both vampire and were spirits.
Dair is one the secretive dyads. He is neither a vampire master or an Alpha, but he is a lead kedge - not that I fully understand what that is, since I associate kedge with something maritime, and besides, enforcers are mentioned as something different than kedges. How he can be a sort of second-in-command, when he is hot-headed and sometimes thoughtless, is also a bit surprising.
Dair tries to persuade his Alpha to go after a vampire clan, one that Dair has certain (painful) knowledge about and thinks the world needs get rid of. But he gets dismissed without an explanation. An omission that will turn Dair's life upside down, but also cost innocent lives. I understand that Dair needed a way to meet (and save) Kymone, but still, it's a bit difficult to believe - a lead kedge should have been able to enjoy enough trust to be told what was going on, that there were undercover agents present.
Kymone is a were and he has been held prisoner by this vicious vampire clan for several years. He has often wished he was dead, because the Second-in-command in this clan has taken a fancy in torturing and raping him. Kymone and his fellow prisoners get rescued in a blood bath.
Dair and Kymone are fated mates, but things happen before they can complete their mating, something that almost cost Kymone his life.
There are blood connections, mind searching, sword fighting and few other things, including a possible cliffhanger.

Dair Risk Vampire Wars Book 2 edition by CR Guiliano Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Its a good read, I enjoyed it however I would have liked a little bit more action and a lot more of the sex.
This is an excellent series. I am eagerly waiting for the next book.
This book was great I Loved it I can't wait to read the next one in this series...I hope the next one comes soon...
The inner need to bond with another for protection and to solidify one's very identity makes for intriguing storytelling. Well done!
CR takes me to a place where the real world can be suspended for a few hours; where I can enjoy the depth of characters who have the potential to be more than names in a book. I find this series to be exciting with a race of individuals who are more than their two halves. I can't wait for the full series.
You've done it again, Carah.
Dair, Lead Kedge (head beta) in Master Kylor's Dyad (vampire & shifter combo) clan is angry and frustrated. Kylor is not listening to him. He wants to infiltrate the Miranti clan. He knows from personal experience that terrible things are occurring there. He can't understand Kylor's reticence. Finally he can no longer restrain himself and he takes off on his own to go undercover in that scary clan.
What he discovers is a hundred times more than he expected. The atrocities visited on the Human and Shifter slaves were horrible. But nothing prepared him for the discovery of his mate. The small Omega Shifter has suffered terribly for four long years. Death had been preferable to what he had been forced to endure. Though he was a Shifter, Kymore was never given enough or rest to heal from the vicious whippings, other sadistic tortures, as well as degradation to his mind and body in the form of rapes. In order to rescue his mate Dair will need to rescue himself. Then deal with the dire consequences of defying his Master Kylor. Consequences that were compounded once he met his mate and wreaked havoc on Miranti's clan.
This book evokes all types of emotions. You see Dair's frustration, agitation, and quick temper. His impulsiveness keeps getting him in trouble. The pain, despair, and anguish of Dair's mate, Kymore was heartwrenching. The glee that Kymore's torturer got out of hurting him was on full display. This story makes you hope for a HEA for both of the MCs especially in light of how much each suffers.
